Wind meets an island and peels away in a row of swirls, turning left, then right, then left, drawn in thousands of streaks of lit cloud.

This is a von Karman vortex street, named for Theodore von Karman, who explained it in 1911. Satellites photograph them downwind of tall islands, trailing hundreds of kilometres across the ocean clouds.

The canvas: matte, fade-resistant canvas stretched over a 0.75 in wooden frame, ready to hang. The artwork stays on the front; the dark ground wraps the edges.

Made to order just for you.
Size & fit

Matte canvas, gallery-wrapped on a 0.75 in pine frame, ready to hang. Choose 9 × 12, 12 × 16 or 18 × 24 in; the artwork wraps around the edges. No frame needed.
